Msn - overture - very little traffic at no.1
well, i dont really understand this.
I have a new site and i rank no.1 in msn for keyword keyword. Overture says that term gets searched 5000 times a day ( i think overtures covers approx 50% SE market ) so this term should get searched 10,000 times a day in total and msn @ 9% should get 900 searchs a day......................... So how come i only get a few hits a day ranking no.1 in msn ????? can anyone shed any light on this ? |

If I'm not mistaken the Overture numbers are for a month, not a day, and that it's approximately 20% of the total searches. Therefore the monthly count would be more around 25,000. 9% of that would be 2250 a month, which works out to roughly 75 searches a day.

hi, i used digital points overture numbers which give the figures as daily searchs as overture direct says around 150,000 searchs per month ( 5000 p/d )
overture is much more then 20% as it covers yahoo ( yahoo alone is more then 20% ) wanadoo, msn, lycos etc. so my estimation of 900 a day should be close - but whatever the figure is i should be getting more then 2 or 3 visits a day from it |

OK, I mis-understood where you were getting your numbers. Sorry about that.

Many times it is dependent upon how specific or generic a term is. The more specific a term is usually drives CTRs higher. A general search term often yields very low CTRs. Another variable would be what is displayed within your listing in the SERP. If it is not as inviting as #2 or #3... guess what?
