MSN new search results

I just began looking at MSN search results and it seems they have begun their new results on my key search terms. Has anyone started to see the new results in? I know MSN has begun their own directory but it seems that I can't find how to get into the directory. Can someone help me here. Thanks God Bless Joe

the results after a few pages seem to be very poor, these are results 45 to 55 for the word loans!

These new results must be a mistake

Every few weeks MSN has been reverting to the use of Looksmart's directory listings ahead of the web results...it's a bit annoying and in some cases extremely outdated, but it still happens. More than likely the same search on Thursday will no longer have the directory results (so I hope).

It seems like MSN has been playing with results for almost 3 or 4 months now. Looks like they are testing different algo's and providers for the best results. Any rumors about the final result?

Hi, MSN results seem to change every Friday. I have been seeing this for a couple of weeks now. For the weekdays, my results would be very high in the search results, then comes, Friday and they are very very low or nowhere to be found. And my traffic goes very very low compared to before the Friday.

Then on Monday or so, it would come back and my traffic would go back up. And on Thursday, it would be great. Then Friday it would go back down again with keywords very low in the listing.

This happeend today too. I am just wondering if anyone else noticed this at all? If so, anyone know what is happening and would it go back again after the weekend?

msn changed for me too today although this time I think it is an update, the change on the 18th was just a mess but I think todays changes are here to stay for a while. Sadly

Hi, how can you tell if it's an update or just a temporary mess?

Do you also notice that it seems to change every Friday? I see it with my results in Yahoo too. Do you know if it's from another engine that they are both drawing results from?

Both Yahoo and MSN to varying degrees use Inktomi -- this week the changes were more sever in Yahoo than anywhere else though.

Do you mean severe? Yeah, it seems like both Yahoo and MSN were changed for my listings. Not sure about which is worse though. Do you know how often they do updates of their listings?

Ha ha, yes, "severe"...there isn't much of a set schedule for either Yahoo or MSN. MSN will place Looksmart directory listings ahead of its web results for a day or so, every 2-3 weeks, but usually doesn't show much movement until Fridays -- the same holds true for Yahoo; I've seen it remain stable for very long periods of time (1-2 months), with movement occuring only on Fridays. Both are slow to update; thus, I rarely focus on them specifically. Instead, I just get more backlinks and add content. Eventually it pays off.
