MSN Loves us - Google hates us ... why?
I have a client and their keywords rank quite well in MSN. They are nowhere in Google. Any general ideas why this might be please?

Good to hear that your keywords ranks in MSN. But for me, I'm happy if my keywords will rank well in google.

I like gazzahk analogy it's pretty good but more fitting to your case... your client can get lucky any day of the week - a fist and a thought is all it takes [that's MSN]... a $10,000 a night hooker is a bit "trickier" [pun intended] and there are certain pre-game 'protocols' ... "the cash" is but the first.

i also find this to be the case, MSN seems very easy to rank high, in fact my site currently mainly targets around 10 - 12 keywords, a good proportion of these are 1 -3 on MSN with quite a few big ones at #1. however unfortunately for the ecommerce site i developed and run, msn is not really used and account for a miniscule amout of traffic. in fact nearly 80% of all my traffic comes directly from google. Google search rankings on the other hand is a different story, whereas MSN i dont even try, i spend a ridiculous amount of time on SEO solely for google, i have several very good performing keywords though whereas others dont seem to be moving from page 2 .......... |

Well.......difference in ranking is just because Google and MSN have their own strategies to rank or index web pages......google prefer offpage factors more than onpage and so stirict in terms of relevancy and also cosider only quality links as backlinks and not all links unlike MSN prefers on page factors and consider all links as backlinks .........so if you want to rank well on google focus more on offpage factors and try to get more high quality links to your site..............

I have a feeling that the truth is a lot more subtle than how you describe it. For example, sites with relatively low number of inbound links regularly out-rank sites with 100s more links in Google. |
