MSN - dynamic url not favored?
I started a new thread on this because this seems very significant
to the the MSN algo mystery, if correct. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, which surprises me given that it -seems- obvious. Maybe I'm missing something. ANYway - I work for a company that has a multitude of web sites. I handle the SEO for most of them. Our biggest site, which has extensive top 10 placement in Google and Yahoo, hasn't indexed worth beans in the new MSN. Other sites we own, have indexed very well with the new MSN. I was doing some checking last night and noticed something pretty fundamental, at least for dozens of our keywords: Dynamic urls with more than 2 variables were not found in the top 10, unless the keyword was very non-competitive. Even then, at least 1/2 the urls in the top 10 were usually static structured urls. keyword examples: nikon coolpix digital cameras plastic baby bottles I then looked over the site we have which is dynamic (.jsp) but we rewrite the urls to look static. The site has a number of top 10 placements and even a few #1. I'd appreciate feedback on this. Do a check on pretty much any keyword in the new MSN and see if most of the urls you see in the top 10, are static. There are exceptions but overall this seems to hold up. MGuru2004 |
