There were some big changes at the end of last year but I haven't seen anything significant (other than normal flux) since then that would indicate a major algo change.

Not really sure what the changes they made were but the SERPS did change very drastically for about a month or so. It seems that everything went back to normal

As a side note: For the industries I work in, the traffic from MSN converts into buyers much more steadily than any other search engine. For anyone to completely discount MSN as a search engine is foolish in my opinion.

EGOL, does it bug you like it bugs me when people totally discount a decent search engine just because it doesn't provide as much traffic to their site as Google does/

Seems very small minded to me when people do that.

I am not saying that it is a great search engine for relevant results. i am saying that you can get an awful lot of traffic from MSN if you get ranked for the right KWs.

I focus on Google... true. BUT, I also make a lot of money off of both Yahoo and the MSN search results. I find it easier to rank higher on the two lagging SE's SERPs. Also, their traffic converts very well.

Bottomline: Google search is great, but both the Yahoo and MSN Live search engines can also make the cash register ring... don't ignore them.

I agree with motorxxx. MSN is about 10% of my traffic, but according to Google Analytics it gives me a higher sales conversion rate than any other source of traffic.

Therefore I wish I could get more MSN traffic, but for some reason my site does not rank well in MSN or Yahoo. Yet Google likes me.

I bet it something really basic, but the SEO for MSN & Yahoo eludes me. I need to hire EGOL

Only thing I can think of is I don't have a bunch of junk inbound links like my competitors.

Ed

I noticed a huge change since yesterday

I think the algorithm did change a coupld of days ago. A new site of mine was on the first page for "green products", but now is gone. I think MSN may be implementing a new site/sandbox penalty similar to Google and Yahoo. It seems that the older sites are ranking better in MSN with this new algo change.
