MSN bot doesn't visit

I have tried to submit my site through http://submitit.bcentral.com/msnsubmit.htm and there is pages in msn that links to my site. The thing is that the bot hasn't been visiting, neither the old one or the new. Has anyone got any tips for me regarding this? I have also read that people can send the bot my way somehow. If this is doable, can anyone give me a hand?

Thanks in advance!

Well,

After checking the logs by myself and with another log analyzer program I now know that a bot from msn has been visiting, at least since the beginning of Maj. The log entry looks like this:
msnbot/0.11 (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)
so I guess that should be it, right? The strange thing is that I'm not listed i MSN. What is the reason that Im not in the listing? Is it the wrong bot?

And why are you so worried?
Only 0.36% of my visitors are from MSN... Why you need to be listed in MSN? I'm sorry to tell you but MSN doesn't count, with or without MSN is the same thing

Better use the time you are wasting trying to attract the MSN bot in improving your site for Google. You will get 10 times more traffic.

Question

it's true that MSN doesn't push as much traffic as google but its still important to get your site listed.

Talking about getting sites listed.. what would you say is the easiest way to get a site fully indexed and listed by MSN nowadays?

I've been finding that ever since the inktomi paid for inclusion stopped its been a nightmare getting sites listed in MSN.

Has anyone else found this to be true? - and are there any recommendations to attain a full indexing by MSN?

You just need to get your site indexed by Yahoo as they currently power MSN search.

It seems that the bot I have been getting visitings from is the bot that feeds msn's new search. Im listed in that one, and boy do I like the current result ;)
Yahoo's bot hasn't been visiting though and Im not listed in yahoo either so then I guess its hard to be listed in msn. I have a bunch of links to my site so its strange that bot havn't found me. I just got listed in dmoz, I hope that will help it find me.

You guys need to think ahead....

1. MSN Search will be in Windows soon, so you will get more traffic soon
2. the New MSN Search is more relevant then Google

if you optimise your site with Google, you will be fine in MSN

Dan

p.s. dont rule other search engines out and just rely on Google. yes, it is the most popular but the MSN and Yahoo! portals get alot more visitors. It hasn't been long for MSN Search, they have only finally added search to the homepages, they dont use their own results (until soon) and have only just brought out a toolbar (in respect to when Google first did). targeting only google, you are only targetting half your market. Dont worry about these million of search engines as no one really knows about them, you are only wasting your money with those submission programs, manual submission is best, target the top 10 search engines (MSN, google, yahoo etc.) and directories such as dmoz (good luck ;)) and yahoo.

You're exaggerating, "you are only targetting half your market" and who owns the other half? MSN and Yahoo? Maybe in their beautiful dreams!
I heard many fantastic stories about future technology of MSN, bla, bla, bla. We need facts, we don't need stories. You should accept that Google is the king today, either if you want or not.
About directories and other search engines, yes you need to be there, but you can't exist without Google.

It's just my opinion...

IF you optimise for GOogle you will be fine for MSN? I dont think this is the case. Our site does fine very well in Google, however is hardly anywhere to be seen in the MSN results.

Why do some of you lot seem to be so paranoid?

yes, my username is 'ih8google', and yes Google is King, its a known fact, when did i ever say it wasnt?

My point is there is now MORE competition between the search engines.

Google isnt the only search engine, rite? It is the most powerful and most popular.
People still use MSN, ask jeeves, yahoo etc. If you can optimise for Google you can basically do all the rest.
I'm not referring to google only having 50% of search market.

What you are saying by the statement in the quotes is, I've opened my shop in London and as its the capital i get loads of customers, I wont expand across the country as there is more people in London then other places like Norwich, Colchester and Ipswich.
That shop has no e-commerce and the only way people could come to your shop is if they drive hundreds of miles to your shop or in this case stop using another search engine and use Google.

if you can do Google SEO with all this PR algo stuff, you can do other search engines.

Well there is 2 reasons why this is:
1. You are refering to old MSN Search (which is cr*p, tbh) not the new techpreview one which i can quote many people getting gd SERPs
2. You relying on PR to be in Google rather then good page content or simply to many competitors or SPAM sites
