MSN Backlinks

Does MSN show all backlinks? Me personally, they used to show all of my backlinks, around 12000, then about 2 weeks ago they're saying I only have 1,500. Anybody else?

For a while there was an error with MSN showing incorrect number of backlinks.

It showed roughly 3x the amount i really had. It was fixed around 4-5 days ago.

They have changed a few things...filtering out duplicated links (2 sig links instead of 200), filtering out subdomain spam (baby steps on that one) -- in all, they are just trying to show unique backlinks.

I'm down from 7000 + to less than 200 !! Still holding strong in the MSN serps though. I can only guess they are filtering all the links from the site itself which has several thousand pages indexed.

Has anyone else noticed such a drop. Just to make sure the command is still link:www.mydomain.com isn't it??

my backlinks have dropped quite a bit too. Maybe msn is putting a cap on what is considered a backlink from a single domain

I noticed the same thing. I was worried I was going to trip some filter with the no. of links I was showing.

Another thing I noticed is that MSN still doesn't give a rat's a** about BL's. I have like 800+ and I have never ranked like i did 2 weeks before launch. It's not even giving my blog love and I have tried too make that MSN friendly.

Down from 17K+ to 240... I'm not sure it's accurate, but it's probably a better representation of how many unique domains link. MSN was counting a lot of those search results scraper pages previously, but I find it hard to believe there were 16 thousand of them.

Is it showing 240 right off the bat, or do you have to click over a few pages on the link results before you get that figure?

Right now one of my sites shows 3,325 (pretty close to reality), but clicking over a few pages will result in 80 showing.

The reason I bring this up is that the automated link checking might be showing the latter results instead of the former...check it manually and you might see something different.

Cygnus
