Meta Tags

From what I understand, what you have in the <meta name="description"> is what gets displayed in the search results. However, this is not exactly what is happening for me.

If you go to msn and search for:

site:http://www.fragrancesandmore.biz

You can see that every indexed page shows the first part of the description meta tag, but then the first part of a pull down that is near the top of every one of my pages (Shop by Brand... Agraria Bond No 9 Creative).

Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to just get the meta tag description to show up in MSN.

Dump what? The <meta description> tag?

If I do that, then it seems like MSN will just start pulling all kinds of garbage out of the header of my web page. Not the actual stuff I want displayed in the search results.

Could be the way MSN creates their descriptions, not entirely about your desription tags, but as it appears, patterns in your content.

The neat thing about style sheet divs - a div of text can be displayed in the code prior to all elements - while actually residing 'visibly' on the page "lower".
