Massive Sites and Sitemaps ?????
Hi,
We have a fairly large site and its got well over 140,000 pages (of unique content) and I’m not too sure which is the best way to tell MSN about it, it was easy with Google because we used the new sitemaps but how would you guys suggest I tackle this beast for MSN and Yahoo etc... I mean if I made a site map with 1000 links per page we are looking at a site map with at least 150 pages.... What are your thoughts? |

The short answer is Yes! It may sound ridiculous but needed and will end up being very profitable from a SEO stanpoint and having internal links. Also be sure to put a link to the sitemap on each page. I know this is not much technical help but I wanted to encourage you to move forward.
Thanks, Priest |

Did you create your own XML site map for Google or did you just keep pumpin in urls to Googles tool? If you gave google the info then I want to say if I remeber right you can download the versions as xml, html, or txt. Get copies of all for your site.
1 Google -> Obv. you got that one done 2. MSN -> no site map deal for them period so use the prepaird html site maps so that their spider gets around (I have never used Googles html code just our own code so no idea how it looks, works, etc.) 3. Yahoo! -> http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request go there and look at third bullet -> "A text file containing a list of URLs, each URL at the start of a new line. The filename of the URL list file must be urllist.txt; for a compressed file the name must be urllist.txt.gz. " and ther ya go Googles would have created that for you also |
