Booted from rankings, and replaced with an unoptimized blogspot site. LAME
I have been ranking consistently well for a very popular keyword for the last several months. Yesterday, my site was completely booted from the listings, and in my place I see a sketchy blogspot.com site with NO backlinks, and almost no actual content on the page, not even spam content! I'm fully aware of the blogs ranking high for competitive keywords by generating thousands of comment spam backlinks, but this site has NO backlinks (except it's own internal pages), no actual keyword content, and it's ranking #3 for a VERY popular keyword. How can this be? I have to say I'm getting tired of MSN making needless tweaks to its engine, and adding fancier images and time-wasting "features", when all they ever manage to do is mess things up even more. I had to email MSN dozens of times telling them to fix a bug that prevented autocomplete text from being entered into the second page search bar when you selected it with arrows rather than a mouse click...and after almost a year, they finally managed to fix it...on the same day they blasted me from the results! I'm just going to assume that fixing this simple bug required so much of their resources that they simply weren't left with enough man hours to maintain fair results in their search engine. LAME
FYI this post was mostly a rant bemoaning MSN. I'm losing hundreds of dollars a day, I get to bitch a little. |

Wow, I am getting some butt-ugly results on my keywords as well. I'm getting beat by a sparce blog that hasn't been updated in 6 months, several dog food producers (the keyword has nothing to do with dogs), and dozens of "10 minute" sites.
I'd love to know MSN's reasoning for these changes. I'm seriously thinking of switching to producing spam sites. First Yahoo, now MSN. A month ago I was #1 in both... |

All you can do is file a spam report, ddos them, 302 onto them or keep on trying to outrank them.
Don`t be disheartened because content will win over spam any day. |

I'm seeing Blogs occupy top positions as well. The top Blog under my keyword does a re-direct to an ecommerce site!
Placing Blogs so high up just encourages spam. You would think MS would be smarter than that - guess not. Ed |

It was one thing to try to compete against blogs with thousands of backlinks. But what I'm seeing today almost makes the msn search algorithm look like a random number generator! There's no rhyme or reason to the results I'm seeing.

I'm back in the top 3 for most keywords this morning, and again surrounded by reasonably targeted sites. Can I assume that was a temporary glitch? Is everyone else seeing the same?
Funny thing about the results MSN displayed the last couple of days, I was still getting about the same amount of traffic from them. It's just the traffic was less targeted and coming in at odd places. My contact page had banner days for drawing traffic. |

Everything's back to normal for my most competitive keyword. I'm still seeing blogspots where they don't belong though.

SERPS look normal from here. No blogs in my competitive keywords, but we are e-commerce only. Maybe blogs have gained weight in informational search results?
What does a blog really consist of in the eyes of an algo . . . lots of content pages that are frequently updated right? |
