Beta SERPs
On November 11 when it was officially announced we were #1 in beta for our main keyphrase. In the beginning of December the listing disappeared for a few days and then appeared on the 5th page. Our homepage is being cached every 12-13 days and here what happens. As soon as the cache is updated we are immediately dumped to page 5. Then we slowly start moving up and on the 11-12th day we finally get to page 1 but on the same or next day the homepage is cached and we are dumped to page 5 and it starts all over again. I must say that our SERPs change (improve) at least twice a day and sometimes more during these 12 days. SERPs of our competitors also change very frequently. Is anybody else seeing this this kind of behavior?

Well, I am up against monsters with millions of BLs and very little on page optimization. Logically this can be explained that beta places a lot of weight on BLs. We are showing about 85,000 BLs in the beta and travel dot yahoo dot com only 59,000. However they rank number 1 for our main keyphrase with absolutely no on page optimization. Number 2 is 0rbitz dot com. Same story. No on page optimization but they are showing 108000 BLs. 3rd however is a site with 532 BLs and absolutley no on page optimization. Go figure what they like.

weird SERPS
so i was looking at where some people were coming from on msn and I noticed that for my main kw i notice my index page is listed as #30, but then i looked at the first page and saw that it is also #4, the same exact page and url but different cached pages one that is recent and one a week or so old. anyone else seen this type of wacky phenomena?

Yea I've got exactly the same thing happening - in a few cases I've got the same page in the number 2&3 or 3&4 positions just different dates in the cache!! I'm getting a lot more traffic with this but I guess it'll be a short lived thing as MSN start to tighten the filters and remove duplicate content. |

Yeap, Ive seen this too with a couple of my competitors. And by the way not only on beta. G had them listed one of them twice on 1st page and 2nd page.
