Am I in MSN or not?
Hi
This one is really puzzling me. I have a new site portrait corner and have been waiting for visits from spiders etc. to get listed on yahoo, MSN, AOL etc. MSN has visited previoously and yesterday my stats showed 6 referals from MSN. Yet I can't find any presence for my website at all with MSN, .com or UK. Any ideas?

I'm definitely not in MSN.
I've come to the conclusion that the refererals come from other sites where my link is showing in the description. Thus a click on the link will make awstats think the referal is from MSN. Does that sound resonable? |

Try something like this but replace rustybrick.com with you URL.
http://search.msn.com/pass/advresul...v_dt=xl&adv_cf= It should bring back all the pages that are in the MSN index to date. Code:
http://search.msn.com/pass/advresults.aspx?q=rustybrick.com&FORM=SMCA&adv_f=all&adv_sort=&adv_rgn=&adv_lng=&adv_dom=rustybrick.com&adv_depth=&adv_dt=html&adv_dt=pdf&adv_dt=ppt&adv_dt=msword&adv_dt=xl&adv_cf=

The MSN bot doesn't add you to their index yet, it's in beta. MSN results are currently provided by Yahoo. If you're in Yahoo, you'll eventually filter through to MSN. Looks like they add new sites once a month. If you aren't in Yahoo, go submit!

Umm. Submiting to Yahoo cost's nothing. They do have a free submit system. You need to sign up, but it's free.

I thought MSN is powered by Inktomi. I know Yahoo owns inktomi but they do not use inktomi's results.

They use the Inktomi engines though, and Yahoo submissions are fed to Inkotmi (At least the last five sites I submitted have been). There's no direct submission to Inktomi at present I believe, only an option to to submit Overtures "Site Match" program.

They use the new Yahoo index but have their own twist on the ranking method.
