Why does this competitor do well!

The number 1 local result seems to have nothing going for it.
They have targeted the whole state of Florida and then hidden their address.
This places their marker in the Gulf of Mexico!
Their website sucks and it just doesn't make sense - but that is Google I guess.

    Hello!

It's difficult to say. Maybe they have a ton of links for security stuff. Maybe they're involved in some stuff that will eventually get them penalized. I understand how frustrating it is, though

There's no way to tell why a competitor is where it's at without spending a lot of time digging through the data and you still might not have any idea. You should really concern yourself with what you need to do to excel your site.

    Indeed

We are doing everything we can, but the shake ups in the "local" landscape is really making things difficult for all of us!

That's what I've been reading as well. It sounds like a harsh landscape!

earlpearl started a few threads on Cre8asiteforums about the topic that I found interesting:
Local Google Search Morphs Into A Pay For Play Listing - Small and Local Business Marketing - Cre8asiteforums
Google To Local Businesses: Whose Your Daddy? Lol - Small and Local Business Marketing - Cre8asiteforums
Google Testing No Holds Barred Pay To Play In The Local World - Small and Local Business Marketing - Cre8asiteforums

Let me know if you have trouble viewing them - Cre8asiteforums runs on a different system and sometimes viewing issues crop up.

They seem to hardly have a couple of dozen links. There are not enough citations either. Their site is not even as old as the other competitors. Interesting why Google thinks they are worthy of the top spot.

From what I've read in those Cre8asiteforums threads I linked above, the local game sounds like it has been changing very quickly. Not all of the changes have been appreciated - "pay to win" is the phrase that I read most often.

Regarding their links, it could be that they're hiding some of them.

Well I don't know if you all may have missed it but they have decent content compared to competitors, including a few blog posts. They also seemed to have done a local directory push as well. They are lacking reviews, but so is everybody else in that industry. I would suggest you create some valuable content for search engines to index and push your current client base to leave reviews. Starting a blog with valuable information would separate you from the crowd and more than likely get you in the top local searches. Just a suggestion.

Please let me clear you questions if you can. As I understand
    1) Your competitors are doing well even you have done more good work
So my suggestions how you judge or analyze this.
    a) Did you check you inconsistent data?
    b) Did got paid listing from Moz local, yahoo, yext etc.?
    c) Did you put schema code properly in your site especially in address and phone no?
    d) Did you add KLM file in your site?
    e) Did you add your site in the local chamber of commerce?
    e) Did you follow complete local SEO check listing? if not then follow suggested links by Mark Roberts

    2) obeysecurity.com is this your or competitor's site it seems that this domain has expired

    a) If yours then update this and if you competitors then it will be automatically removed from Google search after sometimes

    b) As per my perceptions that one link can change your fortune. So it might be possible that you competitors are getting more authorized links than you

    c) And if you are working strategically then you should keep patient some patients for sometimes or PM me with your concert data I will help you out.

As I love to work for Google Maps optimizations
