Where to focus on getting reviews for Local SEO

If you had to choose one place to get reviews for a business (in terms of SEO value), where would it be?

    Google, Yahoo, Yelp, etc.?

Depends on the location of your business. For businesses based in the USA I'd go with Google, Yahoo and Bing at the same time. In Europe Yahoo and Bing Local services aren't available, so Google is the only player in town.

Thanks for the response. I am in the USA. So if you go about seeking reviews, what would you do? Have a client or friend post a review on Google, then another on Bing or Yahoo? Or should you start off focusing on putting your eggs in the Google basket? Google+ Local is such a mess. I have no idea what counts and what doesn't.

I would definitely prefer for Google because Google is the best search engine among them. Most of the internet users are depend upon Google for any kind of search.

Yellow Pages - Google & Yelp are my 3 Go to 1s, i always setup Google Places as soon as possible for a client, even before starting their site as it means immediate business potential and a longer listing age..

I also get the client to email any friends or get their colleagues to post a review from a Google account, giving it a lot more beneficial SEO! - Look at:

They have 44 Reviews and hardly any SEO compared to competitors, their entire SEO strategy is content & listings.. most of their backlinks are from listing/directory sites & their clients footers...

For Google + local pages of course the reviewer needs to have a gmail acct. yelp local is an option. city grid is an option. Yelp is an option. Be aware with yelp though if its a person's first or one of the first few yelp reviews it might be filtered within a couple of days.
