Zeus - what do people think?
Ok, I'm sure this has been discussed before but as a newbie, can I get some views on what people think of using the Zeus software to build links.
Good/bad experiences. Is there anything better? Thanks in advance for any comments. Bluesuit Last edited by dazzlindonna : July 31st, 2004 at 10:53 AM. Reason: no fake sigs allowed |

I didn't love both! They both find very irrelevant sites. Maybe they don't work for everyone!

I bought Zeus and found it difficult to use; it wasn't worth the purchase price.

Was it a one time cost or is it like LINKMANAGER where you pay per month ad infinitum? I've run across tons of sites that use it and haven't had any trouble trading links with those site. There are some many services out there now that do link managing....

It was a one-time fee (about $150, I think). Zeus seems pretty powerful, but I invested several days of time and have little to show for it. I've had much more success with free tools that I've found on the web. Try doing a search for your key terms and them looking at the sites that link to the highly ranked sites. On Google, you can either use the link:www.domain.com command, or @domain.com, which shows much more (though also includes references to "domain.com" which aren't links. You can also try these searches using Prog, a tool that does Google searches and shows PR, which is helpful for finding sites with high PR to try to get links from. http://www.webmasterbrain.com/prog/
Hope this helps! |

Actually, I did. Didn't hear anything back from them, and I gave up. Which is what I suspect they hoped I would.

yeah, there was a lot of talk in Zeus forums about making sure you didn't use the generic templates that Zeus provided, didn't call your links directory "Links", etc.

There really is no good automated tool out there for getting good links. You need sheer hard work and determination, the same as all of our webmasters here, especially for google who hate artificially created links. If you are really serious about your business, your hard work getting links will prove fruitful a few years down the line. In any case, if your site is good enough and important to them, people will contact you for links. Good luck. Bek |

Hey thanks for the input. I'm just starting out and have been locating and managing my links by hand for a while now. I'm not really looking for a tool that will find (or create) links for me, but more of a way to better manage them. I'm not afraid of hard work however if I can find a tool to make to work more managable then it's worth a shot. |
