Submitting the same article to a number of article directories

Read a number of posts saying that posting the same article to different article directories is not good since google will view it as duplicate content. However i believe apart from some very reputed sites, most of them will accept the article if it is ok and not spammy...and we will be getting backlinks from them. For example if i manage to submit a single article to say around 25-50 article directories and it gets accepted in all the sites...that would mean around 50 backlinks for my site...i understand the part of it being duplicate content but i will be getting backlinks from all those directories..do the search engines disregard the backlinks in such a situation?

I certainly hope not because I have been still submitting my articles to around 40 articles site until last week when I have read about duplicate contents. What I do now is just post my articles to my blogs. 1 question. if some user copies that article and posts it in his site with a link back to you, will it be considered as duplicate content as well?

You have to know your objectives with article marketing (all marketing).

If you want to build back links and link popularity then the duplicate content issue may come into play.

If you want to drive article directory and search engine traffic then article submission is the way to go.

The duplicate content issue hasn't hindered the traffic I receive from article submission. I've had the same article appear on different sites, in the top 10 of Google SERPs, for the same keyword.

Don't worry about duplicate content especially if you're submitting your own unique articles.

there is no problem with submitting your article into different article directories. You don't have to worry about duplicate content. You are just increasing the possibility of getting more links from subscribers who will be using your content/article. It's like distributing your product into different stores to maximize profit. Besides there's no such thing as duplicate content.

refer to Google webmaster blogRE: Duplicate Content)
I am not allowed to post the url since i am new..but you can pm me and I will send you the url of Google webmaster blog about duplicate content or you can search for it yourself.

I hope that helps.

my advice would be to create smaller, unique versions of your original article for other sties. link THAT to your original article on your page. google is constantly improving their duplicate content filters so remind the readers that an extended version of each article is on your site.

Lb1878 agrees: Well said. You always want to host your article on your site, no matter what.
