Social bookmarking??
Very new to SEO:
What is a social bookmarking site? I saw where someone said that they posted 30 articles to several social bookmarking sites. What are they and how is this done. How would I find it for say my Real Estate profession?

from what i understand, you are not supposed to submit your own article to these social sites like digg and stuff. Or else u will get banned. I speak from eperience!

You can submit anything you like. Not everything will stick though.
Most soc. bookmarking sites including digg.com and deli.cio.us and sphinn.com have scripts to detect spam, but AFAIK it's not forbidden to submit your own stuff as long as you don't go overboard. Be subtle.

A number of social bookmarking sites do not use the no-follow tag so the link back to your website will count but the value is extremely low. The trick to not getting banned at the top sites is to become an active user. If you only bookmark pages about "your niche" they will catch on...but if you actively bookmark or vote for interesting pages ,apart from your own sites, then you shouldn't have a problem.

People post there own blogs. Crawlers keep crawling these SBM site so it helps in getting the page indexed. Make sure u have bookmarked ur site on a do follow SBM site.
Delicious and stumble many more are no follow. At the same time plan ur strategy on bookmarking. With my little knowledge SBM helps in 1.getting traffic 2.getting back links If traffic is the main concern then create ur profile in few SBM sites, actively participate, bookmark interesting stuff and make some friends etc. It helps in getting traffic. If back links are main concern create profile across many SBM site bookmark the site and go ahead for other ones. But make sure whatever u have bookmarked, is interesting. submit article about ur service to article directories once they are up on the site bookmark them. Don't submit the homepage submit product or service page.
