I've always stated, when building links to your site, check the page your link will be placed on IS listed in the google index.
You can do this by typing into google www.theirsite.com/ thelinkspage.htm If page not found , dont link with them Here is an example as to why this is important- http://www.hotel-assist.com/robots.txt To conclude- the above robots text file tells the spider not to index the links section on this site resulting in your link not counting at all. I hate this practice and would love to know how many in these forums use this ? Its a bit silly to place this in robot txt file as it can be easily spotted - but there are ways to place this externally so we cant see it. Thats why we need to check the links pages are listed I hope this post helps those who may have linked to ****e sites like the above hopefully resulting in you droping their links on your links pages.
