Reciprocal links are advantageous

Reciprocal links are beneficial for the promotion of a website. But the reciprocal links should be relevant to your site. Exchanging links with non relevant sites often becomes disadvantageous and greatly influence the search engine rankings of a site. Reciprocal link building helps in drawing huge traffic to a website.

I think now there is no used of reciprocal links because search engines are now avoid 2 way links and are given preference to one-way or three-way linking

Brian Williams, I am partly agree with you - as you mentioned that one way links are important. But regarding the 3 way links, I personally don't prefer it - as the reliability part is very less to me. In fact how Google takes it is doubtful too.

How can you say? in what term you are saying that reciprocal links are beneficial. I don't agree with you.

three way linking is no way of cheating Google - it couldn't be easier for search engine to detect 3 way or 4 way linking patterns, even web rings.

Link exchanges do help to get a new site started. I have a few local sites for calgary edmonton toronto... I started working on the calgary site first it has about 35 link exchanges with local "in calgary" websites, some on topic some not. Edmonton has half that amount and toronto has nothing yet. Calgary has the most traffic and ranks higher for new articles, edmonton has 60% of the traffic that calgary does and you guessed it, toronto has almost no traffic. All three websites are on the same server and have almost identical content aside from the changing of city names, same web template and all.

Link exchanges will help build traffic, but get you number one for "calgary travel deals" hahaha no.

They will help you to start getting noticed and will give you long tail keywords like "flight time from calgary to puerto vallarta" or "travel deals in may for calgary to puerto vallarta"

I can't say it enough link exchange help but don't use them as a way to get number one rankings for good keywords or you'll go nuts.
