Question on BackWard Links

Hi,

I have my site linked to by a bunch of other sites and when I click on BackWards Link on the Google tool bar is shows that I do not have any?

I can check my link popularity at Marketleap.com and every search engine they cover has websites linking to me except Google/Aol?

If I type my sites name in google's search page "Surfcorp" then I look at the sites listed under that keyword most of them are their because I have my link on there sites. What can I do to produce these BackWard Links so I can start getting better ranking?

I have two pages listed in Dmoz and finally one of the pages got picked up be Google a week ago so this should help after the crawl I would assume.

Thanks,

The back links have to be from PR4 or higher pages and must be true links .... for example on this page http://www.raz4u2.com/cgi-bin/newsearch/smartsearch.cgi?keywords=search+engines the so called link to you isn't a link.

Cheers,

Ok, I can understand that. However is this a true link http://www.affiliatesdirectory.com/links/detail.cgi?ID=7338
and why isn't this counting on my backward links?

Thanks,

Well I'd say off hand no it isn't a true link, the spider doesn't see any <a href ......> </a> on that page with your url in it ... but then I don't know what detail.cgi is going to present if anything to the spider. Do you know what it presents to the spider? At the very least it would place a link to you from a lower level page or it could put the spider on your site out of the blue.

Maybe somebody has the code for this routine so we can tell, I don't.

Cheers,

This PR6 page has a real link to you but maybe it's recent and that is why Google doesn't show it yet ....
http://www.payperclickanalyst.com/others.htm

Most of your links are of the type mentioned above, whereby a script is resonsible for redirecting to the appropriate URL - in this case they won't count. Apart from the fact that Google will only show backlinks of PR4 or more (and only if your own page is PR4 or more as well) I also believe that Google needs at least 2 links from such pages before it starts showing them.

Gringo.

I see what your saying about PR and you must have atleast two real links, but the link you listed above has had my site on it for over 5 months now?

I wonder if I did something wrong with Google because on MarketLeap two months ago they used to show that I had over 90 links with Google/Aol and now it shows zero? How could that go from showing links to zero all the sudden?

I appreciate everyone's help because I'm trying to get our company listed high with in Google's search results so we can reap the rewards.

Thanks,

Although links are very important, I have seen SERPs where the url's listed way above mine have lower PRs AND less links shown by Google....bottom line make sure your content kicks butt....then get the links.

I have seen the same thing happen but what I do not understand is that I have links and I'm getting new one's all the time since Surfcorp is becoming more popular.

Bottom line is that we trying to get Surfcorp listed high in Google and that is the only search engine we are aiming for. Does it make a big difference to the Google spider if a site has allot of Backward Links or not?

Any tips send them our way.

Thanks,

When one does a link:www.domain.com in google and it brings back the backlink results, what determines the ranking of those results.

Why would one backlink be 1 versus an other backlink be number 2?

Anyone know about this?
