Online store having trouble getting backlinks

I have a retail store online sports store and am having trouble getting people to link to me. They see I am a retail store and want to charge me a lot of money just for a basic text link. Is there any strategy to get good backlinks without paying?

I try going to sports blog for a link exchange but they want to charge me, it gets frustrating....I very rarely get someone to do a basic exchange. any help is greatly appreciated!

Why would people want to link to your site?

Give them a reason other than because you paid or because you link back.

Create something for your site that they will be excited to share with their visitors.

- Create a big related network of blogs on free blog hostings and put a link to your online store on every of them. Submit all of them to as many directories you can/want (look for higher PR directories).
- Comment on related blogs and forums with your backlink in your signature.
- Submit related articles with your backlink to article directories.
There are so many ways already described everywhere.
All this will consume much time of yours, but that is all you can get for free. If you want faster improvement in your ranking you need to invest money, there are no shortcuts.

You're a retail store so you'll understand this... I want a really good quality bike but no one will give me one... can I get one from you without paying for it?

We both know the answer... but that's what you're asking!

The only way to get what you desire is to offer something that others desire and will do what you request to get it... or will expose their patrons to it [a link] because it's a offer that they can't refuse...

e.g. you are getting links because you have....? ...available...

WIIFM? ...what's in it for me? You get links - I get???????????

The benefit of helping you????? Is that really a deal?

If I created a blog network would it matter if I used a free blog site like wordpress and have their subdomain address for all my blogs or would I have to buy a domain for each blog to have it work better if you know what i mean? Thanks!

It doesn't matter - the system isn't content related.

I would recommend that you host domains that you intend to use to benefit you current domain on a different server.

Talking

getting backlinks is very easy. Always remember,no one will buy anything from a store not known to anyone. You need to increase your popularity. Make it known that the store exist. Blog around...comment on blogs of your niche, join forums and put your link on your sig, advertise your site, if you make a blog, run some contest...doing these steps will surely give you the popularity and backlinks you wanted.

Gettinng links

Hello,

Getting links is not hard, ask bloggers to review your site, they would do that. It takes time to convince them, if you don't have time to search & select blogs and then contact them then hire someone to do it for you.

There are people out there who would do that work for you.

We do it for all of our sites.

Ashanka
