I thought it might be time to re-hash the list of web searches you can perform to find sites & pages to link to your website. I'll start a list and hopefully we can all add on to it!
At Google 1. "keyword phrase" intitle:add intitle:url 2. "keyword phrase" intitle:add intitle:site 3. "keyword phrase" intitle:submit intitle:site 4. "keyword phrase" intitle:submit intitle:url 5. intitle:keyword1 intitle:keyword2 directory 6. "keyword phrase" inanchor:list inanchor:websites 7. "keyword phrase" inanchor:directory 8. "keyword phrase" inanchor:online inanchor:resources At Yahoo! 1. Linkdomain:competingurl.com -site:competingurl.com At Teoma 1. Any related keyword, look at resources list in bottom right hand corner At Yahoo!, MSN, Teoma & Google 1. keyword phrase "add link" 2. keyword phrase "add a link" 3. keyword phrase "add your site" 4. keyword phrase "add a site" 5. keyword phrase "add url" 6. keyword phrase "add a url" 7. keyword phrase directory I'm sure there's plenty more... |

Good post Rand. Always a good way to find potential links with some reference to the topic.

Thanks Dave.
Thinking about this a little more, you might try searching for sites needing articles as well (which almost universally come with a backlink as credit). Searches like: 1. "seeking writers" keyword phrase 2. "submit an article" keyword phrase 3. "accepting articles" keyword phrase 4. "need article writers" keyword phrase etc. |

similar searches with different words will work good too.
such as swap, trade, reciprocate, reciprocal, swapping etc. in addition try one way links, 3 way links, site wide links ...

Is there anyway we can make this a sticky post? I have lost the thread a couple of times.

As with most of Randfish's stuff, I copy and paste it to Word and save it in a folder, then print a hardcopy that goes into my fast-growing SEO binder.

Dont forget you can use boolean searching and synonyms and you can also use them in quotes, to expand your reach of relevant results because sometimes people will use unusual words but they mean the same thing, the more combinations you can think of the better, another thing to keep in mind: google`s new 30 word limit is wonderful - it allows you to put everything in one search so here`s a query, copy and paste this in google.
"submit | add | suggest link" | "submit | add | suggest a link" | "submit | add | suggest site" | "submit | add | suggest a site" | "submit | add | suggest url" | "submit | add | suggest a | an url" Last edited by sivko23 : May 5th, 2005 at 01:26 AM. |

Try adding "mailto" or "email us at" or "mail us at" or "contact us at" to all of Randfish's searches. These will return you results that are more likely to have an email in them so that you can actually have someone to contact...

also try the following:
inurl:linktous.htm inurl:linktous.php inurl:linktous.asp inurl:exchangelinks inurl:tradelinks inurl:swaplinks inurl:linkpartners inurl:linkexchange |

It'a a nice list, but something that is missing from all of the searches listed are important negative keywords to help weed out the known wastes of time (ie. to narrow the field):
-"open directory" -dmoz -"top sites" And if you are looking for possible one way solicitations, you can also add: -reciprocal -exchange
