I make it a practice to not purchase links but in going through the directory submission process some payment is occasionaly required. On one my link would be on a PR-6 page with about 60 others but they want $100. Is there any general rule of thumb when considering such?

Everyone has to decide on their own... but if I got a PR6 link for a one time fee of $100... that was on a directory page with lots of sites similar in theme to mine, I would take it quickly.

If it's $100/year or unthemed I would likely not do it.

Here's a tip... go to one of the sites listed on that directory page and see if that PR6 link is revealed in their backlinks. If it's not accounted for that would sour the deal for me significantly.

Hi,

I would not pay $100/year for a PR6/60*0.85 PR value.
If this link generates some trafic then I would possibly like to pay the $100/year.

I give you a PR6 link (/10 max) for more less than that (a few backlinks)

Thanks for the feedback:
EGOL, I'll check the BL's from others - thanks (and yes it's themed).
Sorvoja, I always figured I wouldn't either but I've been scrambling hard and long for less in the recip's department. Then I see all the people actually buying links and thought this may be a value. We'll see.
Textalyser, I'll check it out.
