I'm glad to see that someone already mentioned Yahoo Answers. If you have a local targeted site, then Yahoo answers is a great way to drive very targeted traffic to your site.
AND! your "answer" can sometimes rank for terms that your website could never even break into. Yahoo Answers

I would say that they are ignorant about what "no follow" actually means. As I understand it: No Follow only disregards the anchor text and PR of the link in question. It DOES NOT ignore the link entirely, as it still gets COUNTED at both YSE and GWT for total links. No follow links are still helpful because: 1) they are counted in your total link count 2) they will bring traffic to your site |

yup! if the site or blog is dofollow you can get BL from it!
I have experience that I make a comment to a nofollow blog and I see that yahoo count it as BL links. Does anyone observe it too? |

If you are selling things - get links from your suppliers.
Get a link from the guys who designed your site - I bet they have one from you. Get a link from anyone you spend money with to improve the site, so graphic artists, SEO company, software company, shopping cart supplier etc If you are advertising off line, newspapers, magazines etc get them to add a link on their sites to you as part of the advertising deal. Before you purchase from anyone for somthing you are going to use on your site negotiate with them for a link as part of the deal. Remember its your money they want and if they do not give you the deal you want their compitition will. If you work for a company as well as run your own site then get a link from your employers site too - Just make sure you are allowed to first - it is a bit silly loosing a £30,000 job for a £10 link. |
