Awesome post, really informative, cheers!

One query though:

if you have one-way inbound links, or even reciprichol links that link to one of your subpages or an article on your site, does that means the keywords etc are picked up and directed to that subpage, or does it still link to your main homepage? Basically meaning, will linking to articles/subpages do anything for my main homepage?

Yes it will slowly add more authority to the entire site with continued link building and help to increase your rankings.

Hi All,

Since I am finding it harder and harder to spend enough time to post like I used to, plus the comments made about dated information, I wanted to share a couple other ideas I gave on another thread with the results from a member that tried them out....these are current. My team uses them now, every day.

Don't just put a link

Do Social Bookmarking on a wide-scale through onlywire

Those are the quick wins.

Otherwise submit a few articles through PRWeb and SourceWire and that will draw bl's and traffic.

GaryTheScubaGuy

edit: ps. surround the link in relative text and do a complete rank report so you can monitor the results across all your keywords. Deep linking will push your index page up so you are getting double the benefits. Plus I want you to come back and tell everyone how well it worked.

Ok, just over one month since you gave me this advice, and after putting some of this into action, we have seen a nice steady increase in our results for our biggest, and most competitive keyword phrase!

We were usually between 10 and 11, and after creating a press release thru PRweb with backlinks, and some social media networking work, getting backlinks on blogs relating to search term, we have steadily risen to result # 4 / 5 in just one month!

Obviously, with the holidays and everything, we didn't have time to really put all of your advice to work yet, but this is a very pleasing result in just one month, after the work we did do from your advice.

Thought you'd like to know, and thank you again for the help, our leads from our site have increased greatly this year, and 08 is shaping up to be very exciting for us!

Thank you again , much appreciated and best wishes for 08 Gary

Not one for idle chit chat - I have a tough time believing anything "just submitted" to PRWeb has any impact on anything... even with 20+affiliate domains.

PR (Press Release) is a nice way to get PR (Public Relations) but it sucks for any added value in ordered ranks.
  • No quality control - pay the fee you get a page/link
  • 477 largely unrelated links off the mainpage
  • After one day with a home page link to your PR page you get tost to a 2nd tier link that is anchored by a number "only" which then links to 10 to 15 other releases from that day
  • After a month try and find your release without using the search function
  • correct me if I'm wrong - aren't buried obscured pages in Google - a dead issue... they don't do anything for anyone?

Gary at times you are brilliant but this doesn't make sense... if you (they) are doing PR & SB and direct blog links...

I would say the blogs are doing "everything" the SB are possibly as well if they are being dugg at a solid rate (say 50+) and the PR is worthless.

THAT JUST AN OPINION - but I use occam's razor to explain jumps in ranks when you do more than "one thing"... the simpliest explanation is the correct one... and that is "links that don't get bury quickly do all the ordered ranking work".

I'm not going to get into a heated debate with you Fathom. I really don't have the time.

What I will say is that these are 3 of 20+ methods my guys use, I have 10 case studies showing these specifically work, and that if it didn't affect rankings I wouldn't have 13 clients paying over £2k per month each for the service.

I didn't say "they didn't work"... I say Press Release don't.

Out of those 10 case studies how many ONLY did Press Releases?

Find some minnows and tied them to a boat, start the motor and travel along at 30 miles an hour... the minnows acheive that speed right? (massive strong swimmers they are)

Logically link development 101 works -- I say it will work equally well without the added cost and developmental time on Press Releases.

You are correct about PR Web. I use them but very limited. I also use SourceWire for UK based stuff.

I didn't include this response to another thread (Open q's) that is more specific regarding article submissions;

Quote:
That's great news awebtech. Rather than scrutinize or criticize you actually went out with blind-faith and did what I said...and it worked.

I am guilty of opinions and sometimes even assumptions, but like you I test EVERYTHING, and usually in multiple ways to back up anything I say. I've been messing with bookmarking and blogs for almost a year. I still have many other things that are mid-test so I can't let them out, but here's another tidbit for you.

Something else that I have been testing is articletrader.com

After 3 months of testing its proving itself to be a valuable resource. We tested on 3 client accounts; insurance, gambling and legal and although it was a slow start, the links are pouring in now.

In a nutshell you pay £7 for a credit and submit an article. I have one of our content team members write it up because their syndication is through news sites.

They decide if they want to run with it or not. If they do they post it.

I don't have to tell you what weight, especially in trust and authority, most news sites carry. Duplicate content isn't an issue because every article links back to your site/clients site, so that site becomes the dominate factor, therefor the originator of the article.

This month my guys say they saw one that picked up 40 links on just one article.

The nice feature about this is that one article could potentially provide 100's of links if written well and picked up. These are residual as well so the links grow each month.

We have started rolling out 1 per week and expect these to have an incredible long-term affect.

This secret message will explode in 5 seconds.....

...from this thread.

After checking again today, one article has been picked up 56 times with live links surrounded in relevant text and outbound links to related sites (some of the publishers add these to the end of the article for reference credits). It has also been converted into pdf which Google and MSN universal has picked up and the serp are top 10 in normal search for competitive terms, and it was also translated into 6 different languages and is being resyndicated who knows where right now.

At the end of the day we both know content is king, and I paid one of our content writers for a half-day writing this article to be sure it was good quality that didn't need to be rewritten.

But we have recycled this approach dozens of times for
