Hi
It takes hours and hours. If you want some quick linking to come in and have some money to spend I would probably buy a high PR link to your top level page.
Also there are several sites that list link partners that you can pay to be part of. You could give that a try.

To get just links in not difficult today, but quality and your theme related backlinks is always not easy. Do a search in Google for your keyword and find sites or find sites in Open directory in your category, then carefully try to contact webmaster.... yes it takes lot of time, but worth.

A little tip for doing this is to search for "keywrod"+"add url"
rather than just "keyword" this way you find all relevant sites with an add url section.
you can change "add url" to "add site" "list site" etc until your heart is content. Some will ask for a small fee to list your site.
It is down to your judgement to decide which ones are worth paying for in your industry / area.
This saves a lot of time!

Trading links with other related sites would be easy enough if you had a section on your site for that.

Links to a links page is old hat and I don't believe it is worth it. No one actualy wants thier link on a links page because the page is not relevant to it.

Links pages are something that should have gone out with the arc but haven't. I don't use them and I don't like them. Links with relevant anchor text embeded in in good content to othe relevant site si swhats needed. Don't be shy to have a couple of relevant external links on your pages - just don't do too many so that you lose all your PR.

There is no easy solution, it takes hours and hours and it is different for each area!
It takes months to be on page 1 for a competitive market ...

Fun and Games

Yes, its working bit by bit we get higher but we still need to do more on our mobile gaming download site. Just searching and contacting people is a very slow route but its does result in the best quality links.
