google backlinks

hello.

i am just wondering why my web stats are showing i have backlinks in google and in other search engines while a check with linkpopularity.com only shows backlinks with altavista?

i have a couple of microsites and all are showing varying backlink results... could this be bacause of google's new algorithm?

also, i know that i have been deepcrawled by googlebot but i still don't see my pages when i do a search in google with my url. is this normal?

thanks to anybody who'll respond.

There has been some talk that Google is dropping backlinks with PR=4 or less, and also dropping backlinks for pages that no longer exist.

It's not really possible to "drop" backlinks with less than PR4. It could be doing something more subtle, like using them only for PR calculation.

Note that there would be no way for a PR4 page to become a PR4 page without the lower PR pages. The whole algorithm depends on the idea that there are a lot of unimportant pages that vote for a small number of important pages. Without the unimportant pages, there's no way to tell who's important.

Kind of like movie stars.

Well what ever it is doing, i like it! I went from only having 10 backlinks to having 0 backlinks, but I moved from the #39 spot to the #3 spot for one of my top keywords.

Pretty odd huh? I know that it may not stay like this, but I sure hope it does.

two sides of the coin... those who are reaping from what's going on and those who are losing out (my camp, sadly)!
since everything is in a constant flux and there are various threads about the current "google state of things", i think it would be best (for my nerves, at least) to sit this one out till the dance ends and see where the chips have fallen...

i wonder what the next google parameters are? :

hello thewatcher.

i am not even in the radar although my microsites have been deep crawled and fresh crawled. this is the first time they were crawled.

all my microsite domain search results in google turned up nada/zero/zilch... ergo, google ignored my puppies (might be premature... as a great football coach once said, "it ain't over till its over." is it my denial or optimism? go figure. )

backlinks are missing, but everybody is in the same boat, so let the chips fall where it may.
