Backward links

Another problem I am having is my backward links check. If I put link:http://www.greatcarolinaproperty.com it comes back with none. If i put a space in between link and : link :http://www.greatcarolinaproperty.com it finds them. Why is that? Thanks Susan

When you put a space between link: and the URL you ain't searching for backlinks anymore but for pages containing the words "link" and "URL". In other ways your site which is PR3 is linked from sites with low PR which google doesn't show when using backling feature. ;)

you have noone pointing to your site, that's why it doesn't work, and that's why you aren't getting updated, ifyou get one link, from any site that is currently being crawled by the spiders, your site will be crawled and indexed.

Okay. I was a four before the February crawl then I made some poor choices in linking which dropped me to the three. I've changed those things back and Google's cache has been updated since then but I did have some four PR links back to me before... what happened?
I am now building link pages several i'm linking to have PR4 rates on the index pages but not their links pages where my links are. Plus they all seem to have the pages built in frames. I'm trying to convince them to change this. will their links back to me help in frames? What if they rate under 4?why isn't google seeing my linkbacks that are four? sorry guys I still seem to think something is amiss. If it is all because of my PR drop back in February then I suppose it will correct itself after the next dance. I have more links in and less out then ever before. Something has to give Thanks Susan

Mario that puts me back to my original question and I think XM answered it. That seems to show pages containing the words "link" and "URL" not my backward links as without the space is how the google PR bar does it and that gives me no links. which I understand means I don't have any links at PR4 or above. But I thought I did. That is why I asked about frames and if a framed page is PR4 what rating would the inner page it displays have? zero?

Susan,

Internal pages, even framed pages, can have a PR equal, less or greater than the main page of a site depending on its link structure. To see the PR of a framed paged like the one I have that links to you, enter the url of the framed page in your browser bar. This will give you that page without the frame and you can check its PR with the toolbar.

Deepcrawler has been on my site for the last 3 days, so it should have picked up your link from my PR4 link page. Any PR4 links you have added since the March crawl should also show up after the next dance.

You may also want to submit the parent page you made for the agent links to Google. At least freshbot will pick these up and the deepcrawler may still get them as well. I had one site indexed in this last dance that I linked to from my links page 5 days into the last crawl.

Bob

the whole reason that link:www.hersite.com didn't work is because she has no links pointing to her site, and it is also the reason for the lack of updating in the inxex, build links to outside sites so the spiders don't have to "jump"* to your little island on the web

*Spiders do not jump.

If you search for greatcarolinaproperty in Google you will see she is in DMOZ. Also saw a couple of other links [search in MSN shows them].

Can't say why it isn't registering them except you have a terrible pop-up that may be throwing it off.

There are 217 references to the text string greatcarolinaproperty in Google.

The third entry returned http://find-mortgages.net/northcarolina/hayesville/Gary_Ward_967815135.html while mentioning greatcarolinaproperty.com does not have a link to www.greatcarolinaproperty.com .

The fourth entry http://www.greatgeorgiaproperties.com/homes/2630.htm also while mentioning greatcarolinaproperty doesn't contain a link to www.greatcarolinaproperty.com.

The fifth entry likewise.

Six, seven and eight have a link to www.greatcarolinaproperty.com .

Number nine and ten mention it but don't link to it.

My bet is that all of those links are PR3 or lower, I'm not on the *doze side so you can check that.

But in the first ten entries mentioning your site 2 are from your own site and can't help your PR leaving eight enteries that could impact your PR and of those eight, five are not links.

That leads one to think that maybe of the 217 entries 108 might contain a link to your site.

Cheers,
