what do you guys think of automated link exchange programs/ software such as powerlinks or linkautomate? are they legit? do they give quality links or are they a network of spam

I use powerlinks but I use it on my spam sites. Take that for what it's worth
Now, having said that, using powerlinks, you DO have the option of approving each link before it appears on your page but that negates the point of an automated system no? As a black hat I can categorically state that I *love* automated systems. Take that for what it's worth too G-Man

What exactly is 'black hat?' From what I've read so far, it seems to be a technique that is technically improper or a violation of rules. But, since you state you are a black hat, I'm inclined to think my understanding of it is wrong. So, what is it? |

Black hat is the use of techniques that are considered by Google and other search engines to be against their rules. You'll find stuff like referral spam, link farms, directory generated sites, etc. all fall into this category.
Then there's white hat but even some of those techniques could be considered grey or black hat at times depending on whom you ask. But, in general, black hats go for the quick buck while white hats go for the long term payoff. There's an interesting discussion on it here: ************************/interview_with_a_black_hat_seo.php G-Man |

Note that I don't recommend black hat techniques unless you're willing to accept the consequences which are usually banned sites. I may have made $30,000 in two months but the result was 50 banned websites

What's a banned site? I'm still in the sandbox, so I don't get around much |

A site that has been removed from Google's Index.

what do you guys have to say about this link market that i found:
http://www.links-pal.com/ they claim that they are not an automated link exchange system. i never used there service so i'm not sure. i have a few websites that i'm trying to promote and i need to exchange links. i'm looking for the long run effect and not the sort term. (not black hat). Would you guys use thier system or not? And if not, how can i link exchange in a legit way without hurting and to improve my PR and rank result? thanks. |
