Anchor Text
Just a quick newbie question here in regards to anchor text. If I want to use a keyword for anchor text do I have to use ONLY the keyword or can I put other text around it?
Example: I am using 'red shoe' as a keyword. Can I use 'Best Red Shoes' or 'Cheap Red Shoe' as anchor text and still have the same effect? Thanks. |

Firstly the term "red shoe" is very generic and you should not target a generic term for your site. "Best Red Shoe" or "Cheap Red Shoe" are ok, try to think about more like that. Different combination of your keywords as anchor text are helpful to make the links natural. |

Thanks for the reply. I only used 'red shoe' as an example and I am not trying to optimise that keyword.

Yes, drop in some other words around your targeted keywords. It is not good to have the exact same anchor text everywhere.

Better if you can use different variation of keywords as anchor text.
