    What are nofollow links?

I just went both on yahoo site explorer and open site explorer to see some information about the links I have at the moment...
A while back I submitted an article on articlebase . The link from that article appears on both site explorers, but opensite explorer marks it as a nofollow link.
    What does this mean?
    It has no value?
    Kinda confused.
    Thanks.

Nofollow links are <a href....> links that also have the attribute rel="nofollow" on them. Most search engines have no problem with those, but Google has chosen to basically ignore links like that. This means that those (back)links do not pass any Pagerank etc etc.

Although the NoFollows don't pass link juice, it's a misconception that they don't have any value. Traffic wise they're great. But if your going to direct your traffic to some totally useless, duplicate and low quality content, then congratulations, you've just increased your bounce rate.

Is there anyway I can tell ahead of time if the link will have a nofollow attribute?

Yes, look at the other links (source code!) on the website You can also use Firefox extensions and/or various bookmarklets to sniff out "nofollow links"

no follow is a value that can be specified to the rel attribute of an HTML a ingredient to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is specified to reduce the strength of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.

"Nofollow" provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines "Don't follow links on this page" or "Don't follow this specific link."
A nofollow link is a link that is included on a webpage using standard html markup but includes an attribute to prevent passing link juice or reputation to the destination page.
This type of link does not improve the link target search engine ranking..
