    Incoming links - the keywords

Hi, loving this place. Learning lots all the time.

I am curious how google looks at links on other web sites.

If I design a FLYING CAR web site, would google treat these two things differently?:

    - Click here for a great FLYING CAR web site

    - Click here for a great web site

Would google rank me slightly higher for having keywords on an external sites link to me?

    Thanks,

    Gary.

Yes it does. Actually this is the best way to improve your rank in google. That's why when I email other webmasters about exchanging links I tell them how to link to my site. I actually change everymonth because my ranking goes up and down for certain keywords so I'm trying to improve bad ones.

Someone told me two months was required to allow google to take any changes with incoming links into account. Does this make it difficult for you to manage?

    Thanks,

    Gary.

Yes it does. Actually, the first month Google didn't find any links to my site even though I had many. So my PR was 0. Then the next, it found all of them and I'm with a PR of 6. I'm very anxious to see what will happen during this dance! 8)

It depends. It can take as little as 3 weeks, if you get some new links just before the deep-crawling Googlebot comes round. The deep-crawler will crawl those new links and the next update will register them.

    Gringo.
