    inbound links in googles opinion

i have two websites at this time and have been working hard on gaining inbound links.

i have been avoiding and dening links from sites that seem to have all links and or many (20, 30 and up to 50 plus) links on one page.

i have been doing a search on targeted key phrases and checking the inbound links of the websites that have top listings on these key phrases. some of these sites are exchanging links with the type of sites as mentioned above.

By turning down these links Am shooting myself in the foot. Some of these sites seem to be in good tast except for the links page. The other sites i most likly wouldn't exchange links with anyway. :

As far as I know, having links with low PR will not hurt you, they just will not really help you out that much either. They do sometimes give you a small traffic boost though.

    Anyone dispute this???

    You are right
A page with alot of links will not give you any benefit
If you have it keep it if you dont , getting it is a waste of time

Just keep in your mind that a page with PR 6 And 500 links worth more than a page PR4 with 50 links

    to clarify one more thing

the PR4 or above should be the page the link to my site will be placed on correct, not the pr of the home page unless that is where my link will be

The PR on the page that your link is in is counted
Just keep in mind that the PR could be estimated PR so always check if the page is indexed with google

Personally I wouldn't use Zeus - there have been many reports of Google giving Zeus links pages PR0. I don't think the conclusions are definite, but while doubts exist I would stay clear.

    Gringo,

What about linksmanager? They appear to have decent PR. What does Google think of sites that utilize linksmanager as a links page? They can either be hosted on Linksmanager or uploaded to one's own server?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

To be honest I would stay clear of any third party link-generating program. Maybe Google doesn't penalise such sites today, but you never know when it will change its mind.

I'm not basing my opinion on any hard facts, just intuition.

Trying to automate building out critical link relationships may not be the way to go....here's why...
If you are building a brick and mortar business you would typically not find that you could automate business relationships...you would likely meet people from similar businesses as you network and from complimentary businesses as you grow your business....AND...you are always thinking of how any relationship you develop will benefit your customer experience...

The same is true when building an online business....you want to find the right relationships that build your business.....you are not trying to build a business with a link bot or a link algo....but with people...so you must manually approach this...now the beauty of the web is that, over time, if you are concentrating on your content and audience you will have folks interested in linking in to you and this will happen naturally....GOOGLE....definitely considers this natural, evolutionary, biological type business relationship link building that occurs online in their algo....

So relax and work to build out real, value added, on topic link relationships and watch your web business become rock solid....

Of course, always focus on how your content is being responded to by your audience and tweak accordingly....

Just my humble, tired, ready to go to bed opinion..

I think its a basic situation of "catch-22"
In order to get link request you have to be well placed in search engine other wise no body will find you even if you have a very good contant.

So bulding a wonderfull rich contant site with out being well placed in search engine is like " winking to a girl in a dark room you will be the only one who knows what you are doing"
