Does it make sense to use LP selecting keywords?

    Hello,

I'm trying to choose keywords to optimize my web site.

    1. I select keyword
    2. Perform search in Google
    3. Select last web site on the first google page
    4. Use link:www.lastsiteonpage.com

Why some websites in the end of the page have LP higher then websites in the middles of the page?

Does it make sense to use this way to choose keywords for web site optimization?

Googles link command is totally unreliable. Use Yahoo or MSN to check for links and you'll have a better idea of what's out there.

Yahoo Site Explorer is a favorite of mine these days:

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

It should give more an accurate reporting of your links.

Choosing the best keywords is a very important and time consumming process... try to grab a list of keywords with Overture; after that analyze SERPS for all these (check number of backlinks, PR and in-page optimziation) for top 10 sites.

This will help you make a better selection. But firther you'll have to improve this even more.

And don't forget to analyze your logs and see which are the keywords that ALREADY generates traffic for you. With a little work you can easily multiply traffic for them.

    .

I agree, but google backward links doesnt show up if the targeted site have a PR under 3.

I agree also but 1 google link is worth 50 msn links

    • MrLeroy : I was impression Google changed the PR3+ rule on link: to just a sample of links. As for 1 google link to 50 msn links, this isnt right either, the site has the same amount of links and link power in both search engines, only google values them more?
