Do Profile Backlinks Useful For Ranking My Site In SERP?

I have started to create profile in top social media and social networking sites. While creating my profile i am adding my site in it.

Does this helps any way in ranking my site in SERP and helps in increasing the PR to my site.?

What I have noticed untill now is - Most of the social media and networking websites gives you nofollow link in profile and they do not provide you option to target any keyword. What you can get is some traffic.

Experts - please correct me if I am wrong and spread some light on other points.

Shobhit you are right, still this traffic optimizes a website in a way that it makes it visible on SERPs, may be it is temperory but it contributes!

Yes, Social media websites gives nofollow links... But it does help you promote your website and get good traffic, if you can engage & attract your viewers...
