3 way linking better than reciprical?

    Hi guys

Some webmasters have been telling me that reciprical linking is not as good as 3 way linking. is this true?

Yes, to some extent. I don't think you'll find too many using them that won't encourage you to use them though they're probably too busy monitoring traffic to collect enough data to prove it.

As with anything though IMO, it's common sense and balance. Use three ways to relevant sites when you can get/give similar links. (avoid donor sites, and for the long haul... don't create them). When you can't trade with quality sites with decent links, buy some advertising on the authority sites in your field if you can, get a few articles written and trade a content page or two.

It's more about breaking up your link pattern than that three ways are the answer, if they're giving uncached links or crappy/unrelated sites... run.

    Yes & No.

    Having a little Site A links to Site B, B links to Site C, C links Site A is better than A to B, A to C, B and C [and reverse]

but once you get to D, E, F, and so on websites you have created enough "patterns" to induce the same "suggestive discounting" that many claim occur in reciprocating.

It is partially true when your reciprocal linking partner content does not really complement your site contents. It is a win-win opportunity when both you and your partner sites' contents complement each other. But ensure that your partner site is not affected by any search engine spamming, or any other 'black hat' practices.
