Which domain name?

Hi,

I want to register a domain, which has the keyword in it.

Is it better to give the keyword in the front of the domain-name like xy-keyword.com or is this way better: keyword-xy.com?

Some hints for me?

Your Innuendo

i would assume it is slightly better to have the keyword come first.

this is just based on all other SEO techniques.

I dont think it makes a great deal of difference really. I have my keyword(s) last and my brand name first and it hasnt done me any harm.

BTW, I've developed a domain name SEO tool called KeywordDomain which helps find good keyword rich domains through the typing in of up to 4 keywords, it mixes them up with and without hyphens to find those available. It comes in two flavours, english and german :-)

I've found a few beauts with it myself.

I think it depends on what "xy" is, and how well the whole thing reads as a single entity. Also, as you may have guessed from the sig, I'm a great believer in domains that appear high in the alphabet... if your keyword begins in 'A' you might want to lead with it!

On balance it's better to have your keyword at the start of the domain, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it

Thank you all for your hot tips.

I'll take the way, to put the keyword in the front of the domain-name.

Yeah, I'm a firm believer in this sort of approach online. We have everything from http://www.abandb.net and http://www.aardvarktravel.net to http://www.4britishhotels.com and http://www.1234hotels.com

Whilst it might not be suitable, it does definitely work.
