This is the 2nd thread that you have started on the same topic

In this first thread of yours I believe that you already got your answer coz at the end you said.....

How much re-assurance would you need for your title?

Remember while keeping your keywords in the title is important, the order at which they are place isn't overly important.

The main thing is links - so create a neat and meaningful title containing your primary keywords for the page and get more and more links.

There could be slight differences between the rankings for plural and singular versions of keywords. I have certain sites that have been optimized for plural versions of the keywords ( because the singular versions were bringing an insignifiant amount of traffic ) yet they also rank ( slighly lower ) for the singular versions ( without any kind of off-page optimization, this meaning that no backlinks I know of use the singular version of the keywords as anchors ), by only mentioning once or twice the singular version on the page.

That is correct, my hobby blog gets good spots in the SERPs almost without any links from other pages, just because of the content and on-page optimization.
