Keywords?????

I am having a hard hard hard time finding keywords since my site has so many different categories. I first thought I would find keywords for each sub-category then I counted over 100. So then I went down to just the categorys. The plan I came up with was I would do a 1 page keyword rich writeup for each category that would link to the category. Is this a good idea or is their another way to do it? I am told keywords are the MOST important factor in SEO.

I have the link popularity down, but it is the keywords that are stumping me.

Please help???

Hi tcr1016,

Please keep in mind that what all Overture and WordTracker shows are not your relevant -must go - KWs. You need to do a Competition Analysis and also need to see your WebStats (if it's an existing site) to know which all are the perfoming ones and choose them wisely.

However you determine the keywords you start with, you are going to need to tweak, track, monitor and re-tweak them over time to really get optimum results. It is not a "do it once and forget it" task.

I find that a combination of research (tools like Overture, web logs, competitors websites), instinct and common sense is a good place to start.

Keywords

Hey,

I like dedicated each page to a few keywords and overload them, but not enough to be spammed. I wrote an article on my website about how to pick keywords that may help you.

Make sure your keywords are not too generic.

identify your top 10 phrases (primary)
then your secondary phrases.

can they be grouped/categorized?

try to build subpages optimized for phrases and develop relevant links with appropriate text

trouble finding keywords?

can you tie to a geographic location?
i.e. (keyword) + (city)

Think in terms of 2 or 3 word phrases

hard to say much more without knowing what market
