you can also try my ranking report tool for finding out where your site ranks based on a particular keyword search.

motiv8x, I wouldn't recommend using that tool because it does not go through the google api.

If you are looking for a free tool, you can try http://www.stebsoft.com/google/

You must be kidding, one key allows for only 1,000 queries per day.

Once you go beyond that, you have to wait for tomorrow.

Are you sure you understand what I mean by the Google API Key?

yes, I know what the Google API key is. Do you think you're the only one who uses the Google API to find rankings in Google?

googelcount.com looks promising, I plan to create something similar with top25web.com.

Mainly keyword list storage and user account management. Not sure if I will have a history and graphical reporting in this next revision.

Out of curiosity, how many users per day are you signing up?

Motiv8x, your telling me that you only need 1,000 query allotment for your tool for anyone who uses it.

I can go through 1000 queries just myself in one day. How can you have an unlimited number of users use one key?

Anyway, motiv8x - please PM me when you have a chance.

Something isnt right here.

Well, right now I'm not hitting the limit. When I build up my traffic I will probably have to require users to signup for a Google API key.

I've used XML Feeds from the major search engines, and know that they are not cheap. Sometimes you can work out a profit share with them, but as my tool is not a copy-cat search engine I doubt they'd go for it.

They would not allow a tool like this to use their xml feeds because there are people paying for advertising in the results. Which would never be seen by human eyes.

Ok, I think we should share knowledge in order to create the best tool for the end user.

What do you think?

I don't mind sharing knowledge, actually I might actually make mine open source once I write a better version.

I could be wrong, but I believe it is against google's terms to use the API for profit. I wouldn't want them coming after me, especially if I do end up making any significant money with it and putting all my time into it.

It's just a matter of time before someone reports it to Google.

Your app is a little more sophisticated in the statistics area. I am writing mine in Perl and am looking into some of the graphing modules for historical charting. I was going to write it for mod_perl, but with my experiences of late, there is a terrible memory leak when parsing XML with mod_perl - at least I think we have it narrowed down to the XML:arser, or Lib::XML.

However, I will go after as many search engines as I can, and I have some other ideas for tools to roll into the web app. Key or no key I will most likely have to parse search engine results sooner or later.

On the other hand, maybe I should put together a killer development team, and direct all my efforts into crushing you, and anyone else with a report tool like you!!!! ;-)

I am in negotiation with Google right now. Does not seem to be a problem.

Best of luck.

Please let me know if you want to work together.

Thanks.
