you can also set up an AdWords account for a specific word to get the approximate traffic counts for that term by # of ad impressions (assuming your price limit and daily spend level are not overly low)
overture's stats tend to be commercially biased (by rank checking and other automated software) and wordtrackers data is taken from just a few smaller meta search engines so both are just kinda like guidelines or ballparks in my opinion this free tool shows them both http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
