keyword issues

Hi,
Im wondering if anyone can shead light on a few keyword issues ive had for sometime...

1. I know i can use wordtracker to give me stats on keywords and phrases, however i believe the stats for wordtracker monitor the american search engines therefore wordtracker only really tells me what keywords americans type into search engines. if im building a website for british users or australian users, how do i find out stats for keyphrases they would use? because every country is different and so is every market and i would expect the key phrases used by different people in different countries to be different.... remembering that correct keyword selection is the foundation to a sucessful SEO campaign, i know this is an important issue i need to address.

2. from my own experience i believe the keyphrases used by visitors when using a search engine must differ from the keyphrases used by visitors at a directory for the same industry or product, any i wrong here? or do i have a valid point? so i guess my question here is how to determine what keyphrases people use for directories, is there software out there to do this?

thanks
richard

stone.cold, i really don't have any answers for you, but your first question brings up a good idea. if british keywords for example are different enough than american keywords, then you may have just found a good niche to fill. if there aren't any wordtracker type sites out there for british kws (or australian or whatever), then filling that niche might be quite lucrative. not sure if you have the ability to fill it or not, but if so....remember you heard it here first. :-)
