keyword and link copyright?
Is it possible to copyright generic keywords or the layout and particular order of the keywords and links (potentially containing these keywords) that are placed within a site.
Say if one site placed they're keywords and links a certain way cause they knew that these keywords did well for them in google . Can they copyright thier keyword/linking strategy. Is this possible? I personally say no, does anyone else have this asked of them as a SEO? |

They might be able to get a patent. The government is giving away tons of ridiculous computer and internet related patents because frankly they have no idea what's going on. A company named ACACIA has the patent for any system that transmits digital video. Basically if you put video content on your site they have a legal right to 2% of your gross earnings or $1500/year(whichever's more). Right now they've gotten alot of money out of porn companies such as Vivid and Hustler, but theoretically they could go after Microsoft(2% of gross earnings!). Of course Bill Gates and the like can afford lawyers and lobbyists who will be able to successfully strike down the patents, which is why they aren't being bothered now.
Just word it with very technical lingo and you'll have a patent for "search engine optimization through keyword targetting and positioning" in no time :-? |
