Does keyword discovery give searches for exact or broad matches?
If I check the number of searches for cars, will I only see the number of people who seached on [cars] (i.e. cars and nothings else) or the number of searches that contained the word cars?

you also have to consider the number of site that target that keyword/s: your competitors... its hard to get a good rankings if you have a tons of competitors.. especially if your site is new..

It depends on the keyword tools that you'll use (some have addtl details).. In Overture, it shows related searches of the specified term and estimated number of times that term was searched within a month.
