I really need some suggestions. My site is a moms site. It has message boards and articles and stuff related to pregnancy and paretning. I am trying to figure out how to attract more moms that are in their thirties or forties. Right now I feel like my site is being taken over by teenagers. There are quite a lot of really young moms there. I am starting to feel out of place on my own website. I want to work on some keywords that would attract more mature moms. I could really use some ideas. I know this forum is more for search engine stuff but I am at a loss for what women would search for if they are older.

part of your problem is that those actively looking to find info and help for their mommy problems are generally going to be younger.
i would suggest maybe trying to invite a few friends and maybe adding some interactive interesting things that your ideal community would find interesting. you will probably have a bunch of young people though based on the mommy name. they help create the coversations it is hard to find the right people to help guide them. maybe you could appoint some of your friends as moderators to help guide the conversations and build the community. if they share in the responsibility they are more likely to spread the word... |

about the name of the site but I like the name and its a little late to change it now. You are also right that more younger moms post on message boards. I am going to take your advice and try to get the more mature women into a leadership roll. I don't want my site to just be about the boards but it is a big part of it. I am going to start working on some articles on things like amnio and infertility and stuff. Maybe that will help. Thanks for your input.

berberber,
any idea if you can access that adwords keyword tool with the Google API. Mama, To generate ideas on keywords, how about the things that are most important to "older" mothers. I don't really know what those are, but if I don't get married and have some kids soon, I am going to find out!

no, you don't have to do that. there're many market segments within your mommy market - younger moms, mature moms, single moms and etc. young moms should take leader role in their forums or areas. what you need is to create more content for other market segments of mommy market.
