Correct way of placing Keywords in Meta Tag Keyword

I want my website home page to rank high on the search engine results(SERP'S) for these keyword phrases

    saddle shop,
    tack wholesale,
    tack for sale,
    stallion tack,
    tack shop,

    Stallion brand,
    stallion saddles,

    above are the keywords targetted

    I have two questions
    1. Can I target two different keyword phrases fro a single page.I mean there are so many can I target them all or I should not do that

    2.
Now about the Meta Keyword tag

What is the correct way to place these keywords...in Meta Tag Keywords

    meta name="keywords" content="saddle shop,tack wholesale,tack for sale,Stallion brand,stallion saddles,stallion tack,tack shop" />

Here I think the word Tack will considered as spamming...

    meta name="keywords" content="saddle, shop,tack, wholesale,for,sale, brand,stallion, saddles"

Which method of putting the tags in the keyword is correct....

How I like to edit my keyword meta tag is to highlight it completely then tap the handy button on my keyboard to delete.

You can target multiple KW's per page; up to 3 is quite common, but it depends on the exact KW's you're targetting... for instance you could easily combine "tack wholesale", "tack for sale", and "tack shop" onto one page, also "stallion brand", "stallion tack" and "stallion saddles" would work together... or you could combine "stallion saddles" and saddle shop... It really depends how much you want to treat each as a seperate subject and how much material you have for each phrase.

This question is easier to answer... As DarrenHaye implies the meta-keyword tag is pointless nowadays, so you might as well leave it out altogether.

    Define "Useful"...
Ask may read the meta-keyword tag but it doesn't use the content to rank your pages.

It might be useful for adding synonyms and obscure on-topic words/phrases that don't appear on the page, but adding your primary KW's to it will not change your rankings at all... all it will achieve is to identify your primary KW's in case your competitors are curious.

Test it for yourself... it's a waste of time.

keyword wise most people suggest not to try and target more than three to five phrases on the home page.

You will also need to diversify your inbound link campaign to have similar anchor text to reinforce that these are the keywords google should like.

if you have ten or more phrases, you might want to have a secondary important page one folder off the homepage that you send many links to make it rank.
