Web 2.0

does anybody here know web 2.0?

what is this for?

found this http://www.oreilly.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html

hard to understand cause its kinda frustrating!

all I know is this!

Like many important concepts, Web 2.0 doesn't have a hard boundary, but rather, a gravitational core. You can visualize Web 2.0 as a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core.

any more elaboration?

Yeah I use it and love it! It is cool, slick and not hard to work with really... a google search for "web 2.0" would probably provide much more detailed explanations of its pros and cons then I could do but we try to bring all our tools out in a web 2.0 interface.

its really a buzzword!!!! its the way internet evolving and getting more useful!

it focuses around usability and unfriendlinesses as well as search engine optimization with focus on community building.
also better html and css coding standards, getting rid of unuseful tables and etc.

no one can define it well enough because its is an accepted buzzword.

while people are trying to figure out what web 2.0 is some people are pushing for web 3.0!!:

You're asking the wrong questions.

Web 2.0 is merely the 'next generation' of web development that seeks to involve the user in a more communal online experience. users interact and 'own' their internet visit. Applications to your web site are generally based on your design and the methods you feature content. SEO benefits are indirect and usually translate into more visitors or links because you have neato content.

Do you know what web 2.0 site is? I don't think so.
Designing features will not make a site web 2.0, the most important characteristic of a web 2.0 site is interactivity and user generated content.
Both are missing from your site.
And at the end, I must tell you one thing. Don't promote your site here.

Yeah, this 'web 2.0' is basically just shifting the burden of providing content to the visitors. Which isn't bad. Social bookmarking is one good example.

Although, I really don't like the term. It's irritating. And I dislike how people like O'Reilly paint web 2.0 as the second coming of the internet, when in reality it's really just additional functionality.

JagNet agrees: it winds me up as well. It's just a buzzword with no real meaning -- irksome to say the least.

Another way of promotions that we must consider.

Web 2.0 refers to a new way of working. A shift in mindset, rather than a specific technological advancement. It means evolving our understanding of the potential of the Internet and how it can be used to business advantage.
