Tables and SEO?
This may be a silly question, but do too many tables and tables nested within tables cause problems for the search engine bots. Does this affect the SEO of a page at all? I realize this might not be the cleanest way to build a page as far as code asthetics, but I am wondering about the SEO factor of doing this?
Thanks! |

Well, too many tables and nested tables makes your code bloated, and don't forget that the spiders will only scan your code up to a point (something like the first 100 links and the first 100k). Plus, too many tables will use more bandwidth and make your site take forever to dl. Ie, for example, will only display the contents of a table once the </table> tag is found, thus if you have the entire site within a "master" table, you will end up with a site that will only display in IE once all the code it dled...
