SEO images?

Hi,

When optimising a site, you need to reduce the amount of images as much as possible, making sure that those that you have used are populated with alt tags etc.. right?

What about repeat images such as spacers? Is it the amount of different images on the page or will it also be affected by the amount of times a spacer or bg has been repeated??

Any ideas?

thanks.

We live in a modern world where almost everyone is unsing Internet Explorer 6 or another modern browser. There is no need for the use of spacers or any other old tricks, do your layout work with stylesheets, that way you will have faster loading pages, that are easier to maintain.

I am so sorry.

Spiders can't look at photos so you would need to include some alt text. Please remember that the alt text are intended for the blind, and not spiders per see, so make it friendly for humans to read.

As I said above avoid all bad markup. The first rule of SEO is to write valid and up to date markup. So spacers and other tricks will only damage you.

There no need too reduce picture weight, as long as they are ok for you visitors.

images make a page interesting and are useful visual addtions.
the amount of images depends on what kind of site it is and the requirements of the site.
a blanket rule like you state does not apply.

your second question is irrelevant based on my response to your first question.

your third question is kinda repetitive in that it really refers back to the first two questions.
