Removing script off the page and to a file.
Hi
I'm working towards optimising my site for Google, with the help of this forum - many thanks everyone. I understand I need to put my script into a seperate central file but I'm getting confused how to go about this. Would it be possible to look at kjbeckett.com and confirm which script I should remove from the page and put in a central file? Also - how do I call the central file? Paul |

Call for the file in the head: <script type='text/javascript' src='yourscript.js'></script> As far as what to put in the external file... anything between the <script type="text/javascript"> and </script> tags. The reality is though, it's probably not going to have any impact on your seo.

Thanks for the info.
I suppose if I only move up from 32 to 31 on a keyword then I could still see value in doing it. My page size is quite large and every KB will help. Also there may be some value from the POV of my page changing... maybe a little. But would there be any negative impact in doing this? Are there any downsides puting a script on a seperate file? There are no negatives associated with calling for your java script from an external file.

Thanks. I have tested and it all seems fine - but I haven't tested on all browsers. I just couldn't understand why the original developer didn't use an external file for some peices of script but not others. I assumed there would be a need to keep the script on the page.
